From Panic Buying to Perfect Styling: Your Christmas Party Outfit Guide🎄
If you’re staring at your wardrobe and wondering what on earth to wear for the upcoming Christmas party, you’re not alone.
Last December, I ran a questionnaire and received 109 freeform responses to the question “What’s your biggest concern when shopping or dressing?” Five clear themes emerged about the struggles people face when choosing an outfit for an event, such as the Christmas party:
1. đź’¸ Cost
Many respondents worried about the expense of new clothes — some feared wasting money, others felt quality didn’t match the price.
Have you set aside a budget for this extra Christmas expense? With the November 26th Chancellor’s Budget announcement looming, many households are already feeling the pinch. Buying one or two new outfits might feel like a stretch.
But here’s the good news:
- Second-hand wins: I’ve been using Vinted this year, selling items and building a little pot. You can buy something new-to-you, wear it, then relist it — meaning your outfit costs very little in the end.
- If you want help getting started on Vinted, I’ve got a couple of upcoming FREE Zoom hour sessions: Friday 21st November at 7pm and repeated on Thursday 27th November at 4pm. Contact me for the link.
- Hire instead of buy: Renting an outfit lets you enjoy something special without cluttering your wardrobe. It arrives freshly cleaned, you wear it once, and return it. Simple, stylish, sustainable.
2. đź‘— Finding the Right Thing
Age-appropriate, flattering, and comfortable… what we all want. Yet many women told me they struggle with size confidence and worry about nailing the dress code.
I get it — shopping can feel overwhelming, especially if your body has changed. But don’t despair. With the right guidance, you can absolutely make the best of yourself and feel fabulous. (Keep reading for my golden offer at the end!)
3. ✂️ Fit Issues
Height (whether you’re taller or shorter than average), one’s bust, and “mummy tummy” are what people find most difficult. Every body is unique, and standard sizing rarely fits perfectly. Off-the-shelf can be frustrating, but alterations are your secret weapon. With a few tweaks, you can transform an okay outfit into one that feels made for you. Maybe you already have something in the wardrobe that could be altered to make it look and feel better.
4. ⏳ Time & Panic Buying
This is the big one! Endless choice online can lead to rushed, regretful purchases. The antidote? Knowing your colours and styles.
That’s where I come in. A quick Zoom call with me can save hours of scrolling and second-guessing. I’ll help you pinpoint what works for you and guide you toward outfits that feel amazing. (And if you’re unsure, check out my client stories — they’ll show you what’s possible.)
5. 🎨 Not Knowing What Suits You
Nearly a quarter of respondents admitted they don’t know their best colours. Add in body changes and shifting trends, and it’s no wonder people feel lost.
Fashion isn’t one-size-fits-all. That’s why I don’t give blanket tips here — everyone’s needs are different. But if you’d like tailored advice, I’ve got something special for you…
